Ashfield MP praises Chad’s MRI Scanner Appeal

ASHFIELD MP Gloria De Piero has praised the generous spirit of local fundraisers who have helped raise more than £151,000 for Chad’s MRI Scanner Appeal.

More than £151,000 has been raised so far for our life-changing campaign since Chad teamed up with King’s Mill Hospital to launch the ambitious appeal on 27th June.

The appeal has captured the imagination of folk around Mansfield and Ashfield, with local businesses and individuals digging deep to raise thousands of pounds,

Events so far have included charity nights at local restaurants, a sponsored spinathon involving Chad and hospital staff, regular monthly raffles at King’s Mill and collections in Mansfield’s Four Seasons Shopping Centre.

Gloria said: “I was delighted to give my backing to the campaign when it was first announced six months and since then it has just gone from strength to strength.

“It’s clearly caught the imagination of the good folk of Mansfield and Ashfield and it’s been brilliant to see how far the campaign has come in such a short space of time.”

“To raise that amount of money in only half a year is a remarkable achievement and the Chad deserve a huge amount of credit for taking the lead.

“It shows what many of us already know – that it is both a caring and campaigning newspaper, but this wouldn’t haven possible without the generosity of the local community.”

And Gloria has also urged locals to continue their fine efforts in the New Year and help Chad’s campaign reach a successful conclusion.

“Everyone who has been involved so far should be so proud of the support they have given to this campaign, because it really does have the potential to be a life-saver in Ashfield,” she said.

“We aren’t there yet though but if there is one thing I’ve learnt since becoming the MP is that the people of Ashfield love a challenge. If everyone continues to dig deep and pull together then hopefully we will be celebrating before we know it.”
