Two open evenings are being held at Ashfield fire station to recruit retained firefighters.
Watch manager Steve Mee said: “We are desperately looking for people to become retained firefighters and we are inviting people to come and look around the station, and have a chat with us to find out what the job entails.”
The open evenings will be on March 5 and March 12 at 6.30pm.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is looking for men and women who live or work within five minutes of a retained fire station, to consider training to be an on-call firefighter.
Retained firefighters need to be ‘on-call’ and ready to respond to emergencies within five minutes of a local retained fire station, whether that’s from home or a place of work.
They need to be available for at least 12 hours in a 24-hour period, and be able to attend weekly training and some weekend courses. They will also need permission from their employer if they plan to respond during normal working hours.
