Ashfield economy given big boost after Ardagh Group announce creation of around 90 jobs

ASHFIELD’s economy is to be given a major boost following the expansion of a Sutton packaging firm.

Around 90 jobs are expected to be created after the Ardagh Group anounced plans to transfer the manufacturing of aerosol cans from Merthyr Tydfil to their Coxmoor Road base.

The additional jobs are expected to be created gradually over the next nine months as producton lines are gradually moved to the Sutton factory, with the first phase beginning in December.

The new jobs will support five aerosol production lines and four component presses and almost double the factory’s current workforce of 120 people.

The company currently makes metal food packaging cover for a range of brands, inclduing Heinz and Campbell’s soups

The Ardagh Group, who have bases at Barnsley, Doncaster, Irvine, Knottingley and Norwich, currently operate factories in 25 countries across the globe.
