Ashfield District Council goes Dutch for bloom plan

Ashfield is set to bloom next spring thanks to a planting machine brought in from Holland.

Ashfield District Council brought in the machine from overseas to plant thousands of Daffodils and Crocuses over just two days on 24th and 25th September.

Coun Warren Nuttall, Portfolio Holder for Environment said: “The machine has been brought to Ashfield for its speed and efficiency, planting 30 metres of bulbs in just ten minutes. It has a unique way of drilling the hole in the grass and planting the bulbs causing minimal damage to the ground.

It is hoped that the end result will give fantastic swathes of colour to the parks and roads next spring.”

The machine has been and was hired from Lubbe and Sons as part of the Area Committees using their Environmental Maintenance Budget Allocations.
