A Sutton cake artist had a dream come true when he received a career-first bronze award at the world’s biggest cake decorating show.

Shane Bennet, 24, who works at Cake Fusion in the Idlewells Shopping Centre, took the award in the ‘Large Decorative Exhibit’, at Cake International at the Birmingham NEC.

Shane works on one of the models that he teaches to members of the public in his modelling class that he olds at Cake Fusion every six weeks.

His 2ft high Kermit and Fozzie Muppet cake took 60 hours to make over two weeks.

Shane was “delighted” and “amazed” with the award.

He said: “It’s a dream come true for me.”

Gilly Swift,Cake Fusion owner, said the team is “extremely proud” of Shane.
