Aldi says '˜work going well' on old DIY site

Supermarket giant Aldi says it is making progress with its new store planned it is opening in Mansfield Woodhouse.

Planning permission was granted last year to take over the land occupied by the Pegg’s DIY, which ceased trading.

But the retailer moved to quash rumours that there had been issues with the site and were looking at other possible locations.

A spokesman said: “We’ve started work on our site at Leeming Lane South, Mansfield Woodhouse and the work is going well.

“Once demolition of the existing buildings on the site has been completed, we’ll outline our construction programme, and update residents on our likely opening date.”
