Abusive Mansfield woman Jane Richardson jailed for breaching injunction
Jane Richardson
A 41-YEAR-OLD woman has been given a three-month prison sentence after breaching an injunction for anti-social behaviour on seven occasions.
Jane Elizabeth Richardson, of no fixed abode, was sentenced for a second time at Mansfield County Court on Thursday.
Mansfield District Council and Nottinghamshire Police received numerous complaints about Richardson’s drunken and abusive behaviour over a number of weeks, which led the council to make the application for an injunction.
The injunction, which was granted on 16th August last year, banned Richardson from entering the area around Saundby Avenue in Mansfield.
Shortly after the injunction was granted, she was found in breach by entering the area she was prohibited from.
Despite being warned, Richardson continued to breach the order in September and October.
On 9th November, the council made a further application detailing three breaches of the injunction, which was supported by the evidence from its tenancy services officer and anti-social behaviour team.
On the first application for committal, the judge passed a two-month sentence for all breaches, which was suspended on the grounds Richardson complied with the terms of the injunction until it expired at midnight on 16th August 2013.
Richardson continued to breach the order and also began harassing and threatening a resident on Burlington Drive, .
The council then made an application to vary the injunction, banning her from also entering the area around Burlington Drive - which was granted on Thursday.
Apower of arrest was also granted to police if Richardson was found in breach of the order again.
In addition to the application to vary the injunction, the court considered an application for committal for further breaches of the injunction.
Richardson was sentenced to three months in custodywhich includes the previous suspended sentence being activated.
Said portolio holder for tenacny services and housing needs, Coun Mick Colley: “I think that this sends out a clear message to all that this sort of behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”
