Abusive Mansfield woman hit with suspended jail term for injunction breach

A 41-YEAR-OLD woman has been given a two-month suspended sentence after breaching an injunction for anti-social behaviour on four occasions within two months of it being granted.

Jane Elizabeth Richardson, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Mansfield County Court last week.

Mansfield District Council and Nottinghamshire Police received numerous complaints about Richardson’s drunken and abusive behaviour over a number of weeks, which led the council to make the application for an injunction.

The injunction was granted in August and banned Richardson from entering an area around Saundby Avenue in Mansfield.

But she breached the injunction shortly after and flouted it again in September and last month.

The suspended sentence means Richardson must comply with the terms of the injunction until it expires at midnight on 16th August 2013.

Ajman Ali, corporate director of housing and environment at the council, said: “Despite being given chances by the council’s housing tenancy team, anti-social behaviour team and the police, this individual continued to engage in behaviour that was intimidating and threatening to council tenants and others.

“I think that this sends out a clear message to all that this sort of behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

“This case is a great example of partner agencies working together to tackle anti-social behaviour in the district.”

Anyone who sees Richardson in the area around Saundby Avenue should contact Mansfield District Council’s anti-social behaviour team on 01623 463377.
