PATIENTS at King’s Mill Hospital will now be getting even better care . . . thanks to the success of Chad’s MRI Scanner Appeal.

The hospital took delivery of a new state-of-the-art MRI scanner this week following the successful completion of our mammoth fundraising drive, which aimed to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds.

The hi-tech scanner will allow doctors to treat more people and offer safter, faster and more detailed diagnosis to thousands of patients each year.

It will also mean that people around Mansfield and Ashfield will be now be able to get vital care much closer to home.

Since Chad launched the ambitious charity campaign on 27th June 2012, kind-hearted businesses, individuals and charity workers across Mansfield and Ashfield worked tirelessly on a range of fundraising appeals.

The appeal was also backed by an army of volunteers at King’s Mill Hospital, with the League of Friends group handing over a whopping £25,000 cheque in October.

The £25,000 cashpot came just days after the Amazon Breast Care support handed over a £5,000 gift of their own.

Staff from the King’s Mill Hospital Voluntary Services also rallied to the cause, with a £50,000 donation, which was raised through the hospital’s Daffodil Cafe and £5,000 from their ward trolley service.

Chad staff also got into the charity spirit, with reporter Catherine Allen raising £575 after completing the Robin Hood Marathon.

More than £450 was also raised Chad reporters Helen Beighton, James Savage and Stephen Thirkill took park in a charity spin-a-thon, which also involved teams from West Notts, Mansfield Town, King’s Mill Hospital and Mansfield 103.2. Other fundraisers included charity nights at local restaurant, change donations at the Four Seasons, coffee mornings, funeral donations and a donation of sales from the 15th August edition of the Chad. The icing on the cake then came this week after one generous local businessman, who wished to remain anonymous, handed over a staggering £250,000 to take us to our target.
