17 new Derbyshire Police officers sworn in

SEVENTEEN new Derbyshire Police constables have been sworn and are ready for duty.

The nine men and eight women, most of whom previously served as PCSOs, will start patrolling the Derbyshire’s streets next week.

They attended a ceremony on Friday 1st March at police headquarters, Ripley, where they swore an oath to the Queen and were presented with their warrant cards.

The new recruits are aged between 23 and 43 and come from across the county. They will serve in areas including Pear Tree, Ripley, Glossop, Bolsover, Swadlincote and Buxton.

Chief Constable Mick Creedon said: “It’s always a proud moment to see new constables being sworn in. They are at the start of what will be a tremendously exciting and hopefully very rewarding career.”
