A sailor from the Chad district is celebrating her graduation from a Royal Navy training programme.

Able Rate Eve Morley from Mansfield has qualified as a Communication Information Specialist after completing a course at the Maritime Warfare School, HMS Collingwood, in Fareham, Hampshire.

Eve, 20, joined the Navy in June last year to follow in the Forces footsteps of her great grandfather and granddad who served in the RAF and Royal Engineers respectively.

The former Manor Academy pupil said: “It has been a completely new, challenging but rewarding experience. I look forward to meeting new people and learning more as I take my next steps.”

In her training, Eve learned to use and maintain specialist communication and IT equipment used by the Navy. She has also represented the Navy at a Remembrance Parade and fundraised for local charities.

She now moves to HMNB Devonport at Plymouth. Once onboard ship, she will become a member of the Engineering Branch, entrusted to operate highly sensitive radio, satellite and data processing systems and ensure they remain functional 24-hours a day to help crewmates stay in touch with family and friends back home.
