Over 8,000 people braved the cold to head to Mansfield’s Market Place yesterday evening for the annual Christmas Lights switch-on.

BRIT award winner Lemar wowed the crowds with hit songs including ‘If there’s any justice’ and boy band Eli Prime also performed an edgy fusion set of electro club beats and commercial pop songs.

Children’s favourite, Fireman Sam, was on hand to get everyone into the Christmas spirit along with this year’s Palace Theatre pantomime characters, Former Doctor Who Colin Baker, Chris Pizzey from the Basil Brush Show and CITV’s Emma Nowell.

Also joining in the fun was Mansfield Mayor, Tony Egginton, who opened the event and Mansfield Youth Mayor Daniel Winfield and his deputy Dawn Meade.
