“Ashfield now has a woman civic chairman, a woman civic vice chairman, a woman deputy leader and a woman Member of Parliament - a great example of equality.

“In this final year of the administration there will be projects and policy implementation presented to the council which in some cases will be ground breaking, in some cases which will be long overdue. “All of them will be something to be proud of.

“And whatever your role within Ashfield as a tenant a resident or a business they will all make Ashfield a better place to live.”

Labour councillors Warren Nuttall, David Shaw, John Wilmott and Jim Aspinall, join Coun Baron and Butler on the decision making body.
