First news on the trains. As announced in the Chad a few weeks ago, rail fare increases have now taken effect and East Midlands Trains has announced that the average fare increase on their services is 5.7 per cent, slightly lower than the national average of 5.9 per cent.
You can get a reduction on fares by purchasing a railcard. The senior railcard for example, which is for anyone over 60, entitles the bearer to one third off rail fares across the country. Railcards are available from the ticket office at Mansfield station.
There are only a couple of bus service changes this month and these take effect at the end of the month. On 30th January there will be some changes to the timetable of the trent barton Rainbow 3 services from Mansfield to Sutton, Kirkby and Nottingham.
Bus journey times will change by up to 10 minutes in places, which trent barton hopes will help the services to become more reliable.
Trent barton has announced that their 90 service Mansfield to Ripley via Kirkby Cross, Selston and Jacksdale will have a revised route and timetable from 30th January. It will also have a new name - “the ninety.”
The route will include Pinxton Toll Bar and the East Midlands Designer Outlet.
