As Labour re-gained control of County Hall in today’s elections (3rd May) it was almost a clean sweep for the Labour Party in Mansfield.

The party was victorious in seven out of nine seats with Mansfield Independent Forum taking the other two and all other hopefuls losing out.

Less than thirty per cent of voters turned out to cast their votes - even lower than last years’s poor turnout. The overall vote turnout in Mansfield was 22,556 or 27.63 per cent.

In North Mansfield Ward sitting councillors Joyce Bosnjak and Parry Tsimbiridis held on to their seats with 2,443 and 2,008 votes.

Labour’s Alan Bell and Colleen Harwood took control of East Mansfield, with 1,801 and 1,631 votes.

In Mansfield West the Conservatives’ Victor Bobo and the Nottinghanshire Independents’ June Stendall were ousted by Labour’s Darren Langton and Diana Meale.

Both of Mansfield South’s seats are now Independent Forum-controlled after Steve Garner held on to his and Andy Sissons ousted Labour’s Chris Winterton with 1,851 and 2,543 votes.
