A cat whose jaw was torn off in a dog attack has had to be put down. The dog launched at the cat in a garden on Cromford Road, Kirkby, on Thursday afternoon around 4pm. Onlookers say the cat was left badly injured with its jaw being torn away. The long-haired, female, tabby cat had no collar or chip - so residents took the feline to the vets - but was later put down. Upset locals are trying to trace the owners to inform them of the incident.

They said the cat was not a stray as it was well groomed and fed. Contact 01623 450304 if you know the owner.
