AN elated Kirkby band who have competed against thousands of other hopefuls will play at one of the UK’s most prestigious venues - London’s 02 arena.
Xpos3, whose members are Matt Copeland (Matty-C), Tom Skuse (Baby T) and Scott Turner (ST), have made it to the final of battle of the bands competition Live and Unsigned after wowing the judges at the area final at The Willows in Manchester on 8th May.
The 02 gig is on 23rd July and the band, who play a blend of pop, R n’B and rap music, will perform in front of a host of fans and industry experts, as well as big name stars such as N-Dubz.
Said Tom: “It has always been a dream of ours to perform in big venues and this is the biggest venue in England.
“In two months, we will be on stage in front of all those people - it’s a milestone for us, it’s just immense.”
To qualify for the final, the band had just three-and-a-half minutes to perform a cover song and an original track in front of the crowds and judging panel - which included Bez from the Happy Mondays and Alex Baker from Kerrang.
Also performing at the area final in Manchester were indie band A Multitude of Sins, whose members are from Sutton and Pleasley.
Sadly, the group did not make it through to the grand final - but this week band member Alan Allsop wished Xpos3 all the best at the 02.
He said: “Xpos3 are a really nice set of lads. They did very, very well and I wish them all the best.
“They put a lot of time and effort into it and I think they deserve it.”
Meanwhile, A Multitude of Sins were also spotted in Manchester by Alex Baker and are set to do some recording. They also have a number of gigs lined up.
