HELLO everyone and welcome to the latest edition of Kids’ Squad.
I hope that you are all continuing to enjoy your summer holidays - have you done anything exciting?
This week, I have exciting news about a book which is being put together for Mansfield’s medal winning Olympic swimmer Becky Adlington.
Don’t forget that this is your own page so if you want to share a story or picture with other Kids’ Squad readers then get in touch.
Write to Kids’ Squad, 121, Newgate Lane, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire NG18 2PA or email firstname.lastname@example.org. In the meantime, enjoy your week. From Catherine.
Well done to our Becky!
MANSFIELD’S Olympic swimmer Becky Adlington has received messages of congratulations from the area’s children.
Becky won two bronze medals at the recent Olympic Games in London, which means she is one of the top three swimmers in the world, and now the town is celebrating her achievement.
At Mansfield’s Four Seasons shopping centre staff have invited children to say ‘congratulations’ to our swimming super star - and the messages have flooded in!
Helen Sisson, from the Four Seasons, said: “We’ve had 350 postcards completed and returned along with several personal greetings cards and gifts.
“Most heart-warming are the three gorgeous, handmade cards from Bright Sparks Day Nursery (pictured left).”
The plan is to make a special homecoming book with all the messages for Becky.
Fun at town’s museum
IF you looking for something arty to do in the summer holidays there is plenty going on at Mansfield Museum. Here are my top picks:
ArtBeat sessions which take place today (Wednesday) and Friday between 10am and noon. It costs £1 and you can stay for as long as you like!
Tomorrow (Thursday) you will be able to find out how to look after the environment at It’s a Green Scene which is between 10.30am and noon.
