As always, I always love hearing your news so please write to me at Catherine Allen, Kids’ Squad, Editorial, Mansfield Chad, 121, Newgate Lane, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire NG18 2PA or email catherine.allen@chad.co.uk.

Enjoy your week,

From Catherine

THIS year it is the 200th birthday of one of the world’s most famous writers Charles Dickens - who created wonderful characters such as Scrooge and Oliver.

Now my friends at Mansfield Museum are getting ready to celebrate his birthday with plenty of fun and games over half-term which runs from 13th until 17th February.

From Monday to Thursday, you and your parents will be able to have a go at making old-fashioned knick-knacks such as paper toys, greetings cards, toy theatres and keepsake boxes.

Sessions take place between 10am and midday and cost £1 per person. You do not need to book and you can stay for as little or long as you like.

And on Friday, Boz’s Big Birthday Bash will include storytelling, drawing, silhouette making and - if you are very lucky - gruel making!

This event is free and will take place between 10am and midday.

WIN! family ticket for Sesame Street

THERE will be a chance to see all your favourite characters from the TV show Sesame Street at the Palace Theatre on Saturday afternoon.

You will be able to follow Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Bert, Ernie and the gang on a musical journey to find out whether monsters really can make music.

So expect stomping dustbin lids, tweets from Big Bird, noisy cookie jars and plenty of fun!

The show takes place at 2pm. For tickets call the theatre on Mansfield 633133 or click here.

To be in with a chance of winning a family ticket (two adults and two children or one adult and three children) for the show on Saturday, get your copy of this week’s Chad (8th February).
