Jason Zadrozny stands as independent candidate in Ashfield after Lib Dem suspension

Former Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate Jason Zadrozny is to stand as an independent district councillor in the forthcoming local elections - after being suspended by the party.

Mr Zadrozny is one of four candidates who will battle it out in the Larwood Ward. He will come up against Paul Andrew Sheridan (Conservative Party), Austin Hernon (UKIP) and Linford Gibbons (Labour Party).

The 34-year-old has been a Liberal Democrat councillor at Ashfield and County Hall for several years, but his hopes of becoming the area’s MP were left in tatters when he was arrested by police about historical allegations of child sex offences - which he ‘vehemently’ denies.

He was questioned by police and bailed pending further investigations.
