Indian treat for Ashfield homeless
A Sutton Indian restaurant is working to support homeless people in the area by holding a monthly donation of free food.
Akbar’s Lounge restaurant on Outram Street gave away a two-course meal to 200 homeless people yesterday, Tuesday, March 28, in the first event.
Owner Abdul Samad (Sam) said: “Not only will this initiative give them a sign of hope and something to look forward to, our staff and community champions will also speak to them and put them in touch with the right networks to give them a helping hand out of the situation they are currently in.
“People can aid these events by getting involved as a volunteer or selling raffle tickets for this great cause.”
Raffle tickets are available for £2 per ticket from Akbar’s Lounge.
