Organisers of a charity cricket match in memory of Sherwood Colliery Cricket Club stalwart Ian Bagshaw were bowled over by the response, as £1,836.36 was raised for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
Held at Debdale Park Sports Club in Mansfield Woodhouse, 17 of Ian’s club colleagues took on the 15 players of Old Sherwoodonians (former players).
Old Sherwoodonians, captained by Phil Calcraft, reached a respectable 153 for the loss of 13 wickets.
In reply, the Sherwood side edged to victory for the loss of 15 wickets, after solid hitting from the junior members and despite Ashlene Bagshaw claiming the scalp of brother Geoffrey.
The match was followed by raffles and an auction. Club chairman Paul Wright said: “I would like to thank all those who participated and helped out, making it a night to truly remember.”
