MORE than 200 illegal goods were seized by Nottinghamshire County Council Trading Standards officers in an operation at Thoresby Market.

They also discovered 147 counterfeit branded razor blades, 37 pouches of fake branded tobacco pouches being sold by one trader, who has now been banned from the market.

Twenty-nine phone chargers suspected of breaching safety regulations were found as well during the raid, which was supported by Nottinghamshire Police.

Now Nottinghamshire County Council and market organisers are working together to crackdown on the sale of counterfeit and illegal products as part of the national Real Deal charter.

Said Coun Mick Murphy, chairman of the county council’s community safety committee: “Illegal traders are a minority at Thoresby Market and we are pleased to work with its organisers to crackdown on their presence at this well attended weekly event.”
