Holgate student visit Central Methodist Church in Hucknall to entertain pensioners with music and drama at annual over 73 Tea party run by Rotary Club.

Over 100 Hucknall pensioners turned up at the latest Over 73 Afternoon tea event organised by Hucknall Rotary.

This annual feature has been under the organisation of the Hucknall club since the Second World War and was originally ran by the Whist Club back in the 1920s.

The former Hucknall Dispatch Editor (and founding Hucknall rotarian) Henry Morley, was a keen supporter of the event and even left a legacy to ensure its continuation.

Members of Hucknall Inner Wheel worked tirelessly to provide the refreshments coping admirably with a last minute rush of unexpected attendees.

“Year 8 students from Hucknall’s Holgate Academy showcased their performing art talents impressing all with their skills expressed through art, dance, music and drama,” said Rotary chairman, Ian Young. “Special mention must go to Kiera Tarpey, who although very nervous, gave a jaw-dropping high energy dance routine.”
