Minister for Housing, Kris Hopkins MP, visited Ollerton and Bilsthorpe this week to see the construction of affordable housing by Newark and Sherwood District Council in partnership with Newark and Sherwood Homes.
The Minister, local MP and councillors visited a recently-completed house building project to view the affordable housing and met with a young couple, that had recently moved in to their new house, to discuss the Government’s Help to Buy Scheme.
MP for Sherwood, Mark Spencer, said: “The minister was impressed with the quality and scale of the house building that Newark and Sherwood is undertaking.
“This development was funded by the district council, Newark and Sherwood Homes and the Homes and Communities Grant under the Local Authority ‘New Build Scheme’.”
They also visited the Scarborough Road site in Bilsthorpe, where 25 new bungalows will be built and rented out by the council at an ‘affordable rate’ - 20 per cent below market levels.
