A HOST of events and activities celebrating art and culture in Mansfield are already creating an exciting programme for the town’s first arts festival.
Exhibitions, open air theatrical performances, photography displays and dance will all feature in the Mansfield Arts Festival from 7th to 15th July.
Inspired by the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, the festival will see the Palace Theatre and Museum, Mansfield Library, The Old Library, Vision West Notts, schools and community groups come together to create an exciting programme for everyone to get involved in.
Among those to have registered an event are Deborah Carlin and Rebecca Noakes, from Out of the Blue Arts, who are asking people in Mansfield to draw, write or talk about what makes them happy about Britain.
They will be running drop-in sessions at Mansfield Museum, the Old Library and Ten Green Bottles in the town centre on 7th and 8th July ahead of a performance on prejudice and tolerance.
Coun Kate Allsop, portfolio holder for economic regeneration at Mansfield District Council, said: “This is an exciting new event for the district and we are keen to have as many people involved in the week’s activities as possible.
“Deborah and Rebecca have chosen to facilitate art by asking others to draw or describe happiness and their out of the box approach shows you can be creative with your ideas of how to take part in the festival.”
To stage your own event complete the arts festival form. The final date for submitting details is 18th May. For more information contact Mansfield 412950 or email@example.com
