COUNCIL chiefs have unveiled plans to streamline highways services in Nottinghamshire by moving to three depots.
Staff currently working for Mansfield and Ashfield district councils and Broxtowe Borough Council will be transferred to the county council.
Key to the move will be the new £8.6m depot in Bilsthorpe, which will be complemented by depots in Kirkby and Kimberley.
Director of Highways Andy Warrington said: “The work will involve transferring a number of staff from Ashfield, Broxtowe and Mansfield councils over to the county council by April 2012.
“The transfer of highway services back to the county has been based on efficiency and this of course was paramount when looking at locations.”
