High Sheriff becomes Cathedral’s ‘High Steward’

The High Sheriff of Nottingham, Sir John Peace has been appointed to the honorary position of High Steward at Southwell Minster, by the Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham and the Dean of Southwell.

This new position, already in existence in other Cathedrals, is given to a member of the laity who shows particular encouragement and support to the Cathedral in its mission and ministry in serving the community. The post is honorary and ambassadorial in nature.

The Dean, the Very Rev John Guille said: “We are very pleased to be able to invite Sir John to take up this new position and look forward to continuing to work together on behalf of the community.”
