AREA health body Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust took on some of the biggest names in the private sector after being nominated for an award.
The organisation made a national shortlist for the HR Excellence Awards 2011 for its employee engagement strategy.
Drop-in sessions and back to the floor projects, with all executives spending time with frontline staff, are some of the schemes which led to the nomination.
The organisation was up against eight other names who attended the London ceremony on Monday.
Although it did not win the top award, the trust took on household names including McDonald’s, Ladbrokes, and drinks company Diageo.
Said Amanda Rawlings, the trust’s human resources director: “Good employee engagement has never been as important in the NHS, with all the recent changes.
“My team has worked incredibly hard to get us to this point.”
