KING’S Mill Hospital will play host to an educational event on dementia on Monday evening.
The event, which takes place from 6-7.30pm in the hospital’s Education Centre Lecture Theatre, will be led by consultant physician Dr Steve Rutter, who will provide a background to the condition.
Nurse specialist, Tony Wilde, will talk about the different types of dementia and the services provided by Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - which runs King’s Mill, while specialist occupational therapist Rachel Hill will speak about services available in the community.
Dementia affects 570,000 people in England and Dr Rutter said the condition could affect more people as the population lives longer.
He said: “It is very important to look out for the symptoms. If you have an interest in finding out more about dementia or have a friend or relative who has the condition I would encourage you to come along to the event.”
Tea and coffee will be available from 5.30pm.
