HARDWICK Hall is hosting this year’s Midlands Cooperative Society sponsored Derbyshire Food and Drink Fair.
The event – which is celebrating its 10th anniversary - will be held on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd May.
Derbyshire County Council launched the event to help local traders and producers promote their goods and boost the county’s economy.
And with more than 10,000 people visiting last year’s event it helps them highlight their businesses to local people and tourists across Derbyshire.
Coun Simon Spencer, Deputy Leader of Derbyshire County Council, said: “I am delighted that once again Midlands Cooperative Society is sponsoring this prestigious event which is now firmly on the culinary calendar.
“It is a perfect opportunity for businesses to meet their customers face-to-face and it gives customers a chance to try the produce before they buy.
“And with a host of activities on both days it’s a perfect day out for all the family so I’d urge people to come and join in the fun.”
More than 100 food and drink stalls selling everything from cheese and wine to cakes and pickles will be housed in marquees in the grounds of the stately home.
On the Saturday, visitors can watch cookery demonstrations by celebrity chefs Simon Rimmer, resident chef on BBC2’s Something for the Weekend and learn how to cook in the great outdoors with Martin Dorey from the BBC2 series One Man and his Campervan.
On the Sunday, Dean Edwards from ITV’s Daybreak will be showing off his culinary skills to visitors.
Local artists and makers will be showing off their work ranging from traditional crafts to contemporary art in a separate marquee.
And there will be fun for all the family with live music, competitions, countryside craft demonstrations, children’s activities, a bouncy castle and face painting.
Entry is £4 for adults (£2 concessions) with children under 16 who are accompanied by an adult getting in free.
The Derbyshire Food and Drink Fair will open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 21 May and 10am to 4pm on Sunday 22 May.
Visitors to the food fair will also be able to get 2-for-1 entry to Hardwick Hall and the gardens.
