A MANSFIELD handyman has completed a cycling challenge into Sherwood Forest to raise funds for the care home where he works.

Gary Machin cycled from Mansfield to the Major Oak and thanks to sponsorship from friends, staff and relatives, has raised more than £200 for Rose Court Lodge Care Home.

Residents at the home encouraged him in advance of the ride with well wishes and an enthusiastic send off.

Gary said: “I am delighted to have helped contribute to the resident’s future activities.

“I would like to thank the home’s manager for showing such enthusiasm towards the project and everyone at the home for spurring me on.”

Gary has been working at the home for three and half years.

The money will go towards special activities and celebrations for residents at Rose Court Lodge.

Manager Mandi Dean said: “It was a great initiative that helped raise money for the residents’ fund. We look forward to organising more activities for everyone to enjoy, all due to his hard work and determination.”
