THORESBY Colliery Band musicians will perform a fundraising concert in Edwinstowe next month as they continue their search for a new home.
Chad revealed in August that band members had been told their current facilities at the pit would no longer be available from the end of October.
Since the appeal for a new permanent home, a spokesman says the band has received many calls of support.
And Edwinstowe’s South Forest Leisure Centre has now offered to host the band for a Grand Fundraising Concert on 14th October.
Chairman George Kennedy said: “We are absolutely delighted that the local community are rallying round to help the band in its hour of need and would particularly like to thank South Forest Leisure Centre for their extreme generosity in donating their venue for our use.”
George urged any other businesses able to help the band to come forward.
“This is exactly the type of support that we are looking for to secure the future of the band,” he said.
Currently the band is investigating a couple of potential offers which could lead to a permanent new rehearsal venue.
Members want to welcome supporters old and new to the concert and are hoping the event will provide a fundraising boost.
The concert starts at 7.30pm and further information and tickets are available from George Kennedy on 07885 104919 or Sue Howells on 07800 803728 priced at £7/£6 concessions.
Tickets will also be available on the door and for more information about the band and future events visit www.thoresbyband.co.uk
