STAFF at And Why Not restaurant and Nottinghamshire Independent Domestic Abuse Services (NIDAS) including manager Lisa Haydon got into the festive spirit by offering a Christmas present wrapping service for customers on Saturday.

Lunch guests were invited to make a donation to the domestic abuse charity in return for having their gifts wrapped up by NIDAS staff and the And Why Not team.

Lisa says that And Why Not have been very proactive in supporting the charity and the event was an example of the community coming together to combat domestic abuse.

She also has urged women, who may be vulnerable, to reach out for help over Christmas by calling the free 24-hour helpline 0808 800 0340.

“We know women don’t tend to leave over Christmas but we want them to be safe,” said Lisa.

“The New Year often signals a new start for many and there are services waiting to support them with whatever stage they are at.

“It might just be listening to them and helping them understand their options, there are no obligations to take any actions.”

Victims of domestic abuse can also contact NIDAS on Mansfield 683250 and Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid 01909 533610.
