Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is again hosting the Ladies’ Driving Challenge with the aim of raising a massive £30,000 for The Fire Fighters Charity.
The Challenge, at Newark Showground on Sunday 30th September, will give participants the chance to experience life behind the wheel of a variety of vehicles they may not usually get the chance to drive – such as fire engines, HGVs, 4x4s and a tank. All they have to do is secure their place with a £10 deposit, then raise a minimum of £90 for the charity.
This will be the third year running that NFRS has hosted the event, with the previous two years raising a combined total of £35,000.
Station Manager Mark Mortimore, who is the regional co-ordinator for The Fire Fighters Charity in the East Midlands, said: “The Ladies’ Driving Challenge has proved extremely popular in previous years and is a great way of getting together with family and friends, celebrating a special birthday or anniversary, or simply giving yourself something different and challenging to do.
“There’s also the satisfaction of knowing that the charity is benefitting too.”
