The staff from Gascoines wanted to raise money for the charity because it is a cause close to the company’s heart as Mr Douglas Gascoine is a survivor of throat cancer.

Also, Rachel Gascoine is the chairman of the Southwell Cancer Research UK Local Committee, which has been fundraising for the charity since 1979.

James Webster, IT Consultant for Gascoines said: “I have always been keen to run marathons for charity.

“Taking part in the Ikano Robin Hood Half Marathon will help me build up to the full marathon distance. The Gascoines family have supported Cancer Research UK for years and this is my way of contributing to that tradition.”

Becky Elphick, area volunteer manager, Cancer Research UK said: “It is wonderful that so many of the staff from Gascoines have decided to take part in the Ikano Robin Hood Half and Mini Marathon.

“On behalf of the charity I would like to wish them the best of luck with their training and I hope they all enjoy their achievement.”

Gascoines is a family- run estate agents and chartered surveyors, who have been operating in Nottinghamshire for 58 years. They have offices in Southwell, Ollerton, Calverton and Ravenshead.
