Gardens open for charity - including Bishops Manor at Southwell

FOUR Nottinghamshire gardens are opening in the next few days for public viewing in aid of National Garden Scheme charities.

On Tuesday 18th September The Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham and his wife are opening the mature Edwardian gardens in their guardianship at Bishops Manor, NG25 0JR, in the centre of Southwell, from 1-4pm.

As well as a s striking view of Southwell Minster, there is a herb knot garden and a quadruple medieval privy. Admission is £3.

On Sunday 23rd September two gardens are open - Will and Sarah Murch’s five acres at Ellicar House, Gringley-on-the-Hill, 1-5pm, admission £3; and John and Elaine Walker at Riseholme, 125 Shelford Road, Radcliffe on Trent, 1.30-5.30pm, £3.

On Sunday 30th September the last private garden opening of the season takes place from 1-5pm when NGS Assistant County Organiser Mrs Beverley Parkes will welcome visitors to The Old Vicarage, Hallam, NG22 8AX.

Admission is £3 and the garden is open from 1-5pm.
