Fun Day in memory of Ayssa

A family Fun Day is being organised by the Hucknall couple whose newborn baby tragically died after a doctor’s blunder.

Sion and Karen Legg of Eastwood Close will be holding the event in memory of their daughter Alyssa Rose who died seven days after being born when she was starved of oxygen during labour.

The couple, together with their family and friends are planning a second fundraiser for the neo-natal unit at Nottingham’s City Hospital, where Ayssa Rose was cared for following her birth.

The Fun Day will be held on Sunday 25th May at Rolls Royce Leisure on Watnall Road and will include a football tournament and entertainment throughout the day followed by a family disco into the evening.

The event follows a previous fundraiser held last year which collected over £5,000.

“We have a raffle, tombola, lots of stalls, face painting, glitter tattoos, hog roast, bouncy castle, bear sale, guess the weight of the cake, and lots more,” said Karen.

“The neo-natal team do save many little miracles,” added Karen. “The work they do is invaluable and they gave us so many precious memories which was above and beyond any medical care.

“But they cannot do this without funding so this is why we are planning another fundraiser to boost funds at the unit further so they can help those who find themselves needing the unit.”
