FREE music and entertainment are on offer at a Mansfield park to celebrate the opening of its new bandstand.
Nearly £200,000 has been spent on the Edwardian-style bandstand at Carr Bank Park which will host traditional brass band and musical performances, drama and contemporary musical acts.
Blidworth Colliery Brass Band, Pleasley Colliery Brass Band a Punch and Judy show, a magician and a clown will perform at the opening event on Sunday.
Early maps show a bandstand existed in the park between 1919 and 1956, which is now the current location for the war memorial.
The new site for the bandstand is centrally located within the park, acting as a focal point for visitors.
Mansfield mayor Tony Egginton will officially open the bandstand at 3pm, ahead of the entertainment.
He said: “Opening the new band stand at Carr Bank Park will be a true honour and I’d encourage everyone to come along and celebrate this fantastic new attraction in our district.”
The event runs from 3 to 6.30pm.
Visitors are invited to bring picnics.
