Four men admit Mansfield assaults

FOUR Mansfield Woodhouse men admitted yesterday their roles in two separate assaults in April and May last year.

On 1st May, a 24-year-old man suffered life-threatening head injuries when he was attacked at his home in Ley Lane, Mansfield Woodhouse.

His attackers forced their way into his house and assaulted him with a number of weapons before fleeing in 4x4 vehicles parked nearby.

The victim suffered severe injuries, including a fractured skull. He has had to undergo a number of surgeries and is recovering well, though it is thought his injuries could have long-term effects.

Adam Groves (23) Dwane Chapman (24) both of Park Avenue, and 49-year-old Martin Groves of Leas Road, pleaded guilty to Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) in connection with this incident at Nottingham Crown Court yesterday.

In another attack the night before two men, aged 24 and 27, were assaulted in a bar in Mansfield town centre.

Adam Groves, Dwayne Chapman and 25-year-old Ashley Groves, also of Park Avenue, admitted Actual Bodily Harm (ABH) in connection with this assault.

Ashley Groves also admitted causing affray in Park Avenue on 1st May.

The four men will be jointly sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday 11th February.
