Prior to his arrival in North Nottinghamshire, Miller spent six years at Ipswich, his hometown club, before winning promotion to the First Division with Norwich City in 1976, amidst a two season spell.

He ended his professional football career at Port Vale and was a taxi driver in Mansfield in his later years.

Mansfield Town chairman John Radford said: “The club sends our sincere sympathies to Johnny’s family at this sad time.

“The part in which he played during our promotion to the Second Division will never be forgotten.”
