A former Stags player is reported to have been arrested following an alleged attack on another man in early-morning brawl.
Alex Baptiste (28), who began his career with Mansfield Town but now plays for Bolton Wanderers, was arrested by police on suspicion of actual bodily harm following a brawl outside a bar in Poulton-le-Flyde, near Blackpool.
Lancashire Police confirmed that two men had been arrested on suspicion of assault following the incident at 1.35am on Saturday 28th June. They had since been bailed.
It was reported that the fight broke out after a man allegedly touched Alex Baptiste’s wife’s bottom, with one eye-witness claiming the fight happened in front of two officers.
Having grown up in Ollerton, Baptiste attended All Saints’ RC School in Mansfield.
He came up through the youth ranks of Mansfield Town before making his debut in 2003 as a 17-year-old.
Thed defender went on to make 174 appearances for Stags before signing for Blackpool in 2008.
He made the move to Bolton Wanderers last year.
