Forest Town’s Women’s Institute celebrated their 65th Birthday with a bumper party at Samworth Church Academy.
The thriving group which boasts 69 members were given a surprise at the event when the branch committee performed a pantomime, written and rehearsed in secret since July.
Elaine Pinnick, president of the Forest Town branch said the group hold a monthly meeting at Samworth Church Academy and decided earlier in the year to mark the 65th birthday in style. She said, “The evening was a great way to celebrate a birthday with fun, song, laughter, food and drinks!”
Joy Bramall, one of the writers of the show said it was the first pantomime performed in their branch, and was loosely based on Strictly Come Dancing.
