A county council meeting had to be adjourned this morning, Thursday 15th January, after a former Forest Town man staged a protest in the council chamber.

Mickey Summers and four friends launched into a tirade in the public gallery at West Bridgford’s County Hall during a meeting of the full council.

Mr Summers, who claims he was sexually abused as a boy while living in council care, is fighting to expose the man who raped him, who he says was a social services worker for the council.

He was told recently by Operation Daybreak - the investigation into historic sexual abuse at boys homes in Nottinghamshire - that the former social worker had been traced by officers and quizzed.

Speaking to the Chad shortly after he was asked to leave the meeting, Mr Summers said: “I got up and started asking why they were not talking about this man from social services.”

He said a number of councillors got up to leave, but many stayed.

The meeting was adjourned and was re-started a short time later.
