Another picture by artist Neil Pledger, who mixes old photographs with modern images to startling effect.

He said: “The Empire cinema on the crossroads of Rosemary Street and Sutton Road opened in 1914 as a 700 seat variety theatre, luminaries such as Flanagan and Allen and George Formby played to packed house here in its heyday. In its later years it became a cinema before finally closing its doors in 1961, making way for the Mansfield ring road.”
