FOOTBALLERS and youngsters from across Derbyshire have teamed up to promote an anti-racism campaign.
Rams club players Richard Keogh and Theo Robinson answered questions about racism in football and society to raise awareness.
Both Derbyshire County Council and City Council took part by arranging for children across the county to meet at the Show Racism the Red Card day at Derby County Football Club’s Pride Park Stadium.
Councillor Barry Lewis, Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Member for Young People, said they had been supporting the campaign since 2008.
He added: “Racism is unacceptable and should not be tolerated in any area of life. We hope this opportunity to meet football stars and learn important lessons about the communities we live in will stay with the youngsters and help them in future.”
There will also be an advance screening of the campaign’s DVD which will feature top footballers to leave a lasting impression on the kids.
Derbyshire Schools taking part include Heath Fields Primary School, Hatton, and Richardson Endowed Primary School, Smalley.
