A community football team for youngsters under the age of nine have already scored their first goal of the new season -- thanks to a generous donation of £1,000.

Leading national training and apprenticeship provider Positive Outcomes has agreed to back Selston U9s, who have just started their 2015/16 campaign in the Young Elizabethan League.

The new team, who train and play at the parish hall ground in the village, have spent the donation on kits, tracksuits and match balls. And manager Deene Ball is full of praise for the company for their kind support.

“We are thrilled by this generous donation from Positive Outcomes,” said Deene. “The company’s head office is nearby at South Normanton, so it has a local connection to the club and wanted to give back to its local community.

“It’s great to see a local company contributing to a local team like this, encouraging young people to kick a ball around, rather than sit in front of an Xbox or the TV on a Saturday.

“The fees the kids pay only cover the league and ground costs, so we would have struggled to put together a proper team this season without this donation.”

Selston kicked off their new season with a match away to West Bridgford Hawks last weekend.

Added Deene: “It was a real honour to be able to provide our team with such a smart and professional kit. All the players were really excited to wear their new shirts and shorts for the first time.”

Positive Outcomes’ managing director, Ryan Longmate, said: “We are delighted that Selston U9s are pleased with our donation, and can’t wait to see them in action. Staff will be supporting the team throughout the season, and we wish them the best of luck.”

SELSTON U9s will be hoping for positive outcomes this season after receiving such a boost from the company of the same name.

Although based at The Village business park in South Normanton, the firm has offices throughout the country, specialising in funded training and government-sponsored apprenticeships across a wide range of sectors, including human resources, business administration and hospitality.

Established almost 20 years ago, Positive Outcomes is an award-winning company priding itself on high-quality service.
