Food awards will honour innovation

ENTRIES are being accepted for the 2012 Food and Drink iNet Innovation Awards and Mansfield and Ashfield companies are urged to take part.

Being held for the fifth year, the awards recognise and reward the use of innovation in the region’s food and drink sector as a way of boosting development and growth.

Last year’s winners, a team from the University of Leicester Space Research Centre, who applied space technology to allow the detection of fake whisky, said news of the award win had brought interest from around the world, as well as potential customers.

The free to enter annual awards create positive exposure for the shortlisted and winning organizations, and individuals, companies and researchers are encouraged to enter as soon as possible.

Forms are available to download from the iNet section of the food and drink forum website,, to be submitted by 17th August.

There are four categories this year – business growth, new product development, positive impact, and collaboration.

Winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony and gala dinner in November.
