Fitness prizes all in the details
Leisure centre users in Ollerton and Blidworth are celebrating winning a year’s free membership, all for giving contact details so they can be kept informed about new offers, discounts or challenges.
Users of Blidworth Community Leisure Centre and Dukeries Leisure Centre, Ollerton, which are run by Newark and Sherwood District Council, were asked to fill in the forms with their email addresses, mobile telephone numbers and other contact details.
This allows the centres to keep members informed in the event of emergency closures, changes to programmes or classes, where new classes are being offered or if they’re entitled to a discount, as well as having up to date contact information for users in the case of an emergency.
Anyone who filled out the form was entered into a prize draw for the leisure centre they use. First prize was a year’s free leisure membership. Worth £335 over 12 months, this prize entitles them to free use of fitness suites with the latest equipment, a range of workout classes, swimming and swim4fitness (where available) and off-peak badminton and squash.
Second prize was a Red Letter Day pass, which includes activities such as parachuting, sports car experiences and spa days, and third prize was bag of fitness kit essentials.
Winner of the first prize at Dukeries Leisure Centre was adult education worker Sheila Bostock (57) of Cinder Lane, Ollerton, who mainly uses the centre for a swim before work.
She said: “With the summer coming along, I am going to make the most of this and make more time to use the leisure centre.
“I mainly use it for swimming at the moment but I’m quite interested in the dance-orientated classes, like Zumba, which I’d like to give a go.”
Jose Rodriguez (38) of Dale Lane, Blidworth won the year’s free membership at Blidworth Community Leisure Centre.
He works as a mechanic for the AA so spends a lot of his time on the road, but tries to use the gym at Blidworth three or four times a week to stay in shape.
He said: “It is a great prize and is very welcome. I’ve not been going as regularly lately but this will hopefully encourage me to make the effort to go more often.”
Winner of the second prize at the Dukeries - A Red Letter Day voucher - was John Middleton of Kirton Park, Kirton. Leigh Rodgers of Sixth Avenue, Edwinstowe, won the fitness equipment for third prize.
Winners of the second and third prizes at Blidworth were James Wilkinson of Dale Lane, Blidworth and Dave Nurse of Haywood Avenue, Blidworth.
Leisure centre users who have not yet completed the details forms can still do so. Ask at reception for a card or more details. Further prize draws will be held in the future.
