Firefighters tackle recycling lorry fire in Forest Town

Mansfield Fire Crews were called to Sandlands Way on Wednesday morning around 8.45am when a ICS Waste Recycling lorry began to smoke outside Fillets Fish and Chip Shop. It is believed hot ashes from a bin set fire to refuse inside the lorry. Some of the rubbish had to be tipped out of the lorry for crews to damp down, the Enviromental Agency were called to clear up the rubbish and the Highways Agency called to grit the area, after water used to put out the fire turned to ice.

FIREFIGHTERS were called to Forest Town this morning (Wednesday) when a waste recycling lorry began to smoke.

The incident happened at 8.45am outside Fillets Fish and Chip shop and is believed to have started when hot ashes from a bin set fire to refuse inside the lorry.
